    Voice Construction is hiring Foreman for thier current and future projects. The successful candidate will directly supervise and coordinate activities of construction heavy equipment operators, tradesmen, labourers and sub-contractors in order to get work done safely and effectively. The Foreman is responsible to ensure that work is carried out in accordance with the Superintendent’s instructions, that records of machinery operated, loads moved, and hours worked are accurate on a daily basis. The Foreman must be constantly alert to the potential for an accident and must manage to prevent accidents or near misses. The Foreman represents the Company and the Client when dealing with his or her workers and must therefore be fair, consistent, and consistently evaluate the work to be done. The Foreman will consider the environment, and the abilities of the foremen and workers to ensure that the best people are in the right place at the right time instilling a sense of purpose, urgency, and pride. The Foreman must be aware of the production schedule and will be expected to work with the Superintendent to meet or exceed the schedule to complete a project.  The Foreman may act as a temporary superintendent and the position should be seen as a developmental position for superintendent level work.


    The Foreman will be project site based in the Fort McMurray area on a rotational shift of 10/4.


    Essential Job Functions:

    • Examine, inspect, and organize work practices and progress, equipment, and the construction site to verify safety and to ensure that specifications are met with regard to skills of operators and other workers to get work done.
    • Train workers in construction methods, operation of equipment, safety procedures, and company policies with regard to health and safety, the environment.
    • Read blueprints and specifications to determine construction requirements and to plan procedures and methodology.
    • Assign work to employees, based on material and worker requirements of specific jobs.
    • Confer with the Superintendent in order to resolve problems and to coordinate activities.
    • Estimate material and worker requirements to complete assigned work.
    • Keep an accurate daily log in order to have an accurate record of production and work place incidents.
    • Ensure that foremen’s daily time records are complete and accurate and recorded at the end of each shift. Be sure that time charged to equipment is accurate and that employees under the foreman’s control are properly paid. Finally, ensure that records are turned in as appropriate.
    • Act as the foreman’s advocate when such representation is required. At the same time the foreman must expect excellent job performance and accept nothing less.

    Experience and Education Requirements:

    • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
    • Minimum 4 years in heavy civil construction experience working in a live plant with a focus on Safety being your top priority.
    • A heavy equipment operator with excellent skills working with scrapers, excavators, dozers, and support equipment in a fast paced moving construction environment considered an asset.
    • Results oriented individual with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
    • Interacts and communicates well with others, with strong leadership qualities and a demonstrated track record of dealing successfully with team members and key customers.
